From 1994 to 2007, Fr. Mike was pastor at Dolores Mission in Los Angeles, where he developed a passion for working with the poor and marginalized, and met countless families whose lives were torn apart by gang violence and crime.

Returning from the General Congregation in Rome in 2008, Fr. Mike founded the Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative to bring healing, hope, and transformation to those affected by incarceration.

Under his leadership, JRJI has grown to serve thousands of incarcerated individuals and their families through retreats, liturgies, and advocacy work across California.
