Part-Time Grant Writer / Grants Coordinator

Part-time · 10 hours per week · $45 per hour · Remote or in office, flexible schedule.

Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative is a small Jesuit nonprofit that accompanies individuals and families impacted by incarceration through Ignatian spirituality, restorative justice, retreats, correspondence, and community-based programs.

About the position

JRJI is seeking a Part-Time Grant Writer and Grants Coordinator to manage our existing grants and help identify and pursue new funding opportunities.

JRJI is a small organization with a focused grant portfolio. The person in this role will take over the coordination of three existing, relatively small grants while helping us develop a stronger and more organized grant pipeline.

We are looking for someone who is a strong grant researcher and writer: organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and track three existing JRJI grants, including deadlines, deliverables, reports, and required documentation.
  • Maintain a simple, organized grant tracker and calendar.
  • Prepare and submit required grant reports.
  • Work with JRJI leadership to gather program information, outcomes, budgets, and other materials needed for reporting.
  • Research new grant opportunities that are a good fit for JRJI.
  • Write and submit grant proposals and letters of inquiry.
  • Track applications, awards, reporting deadlines, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Maintain organized electronic files for grants and supporting documents.
  • Help develop reusable language about JRJI’s mission, programs, accomplishments, and impact.
  • Provide periodic updates to leadership on current grants and prospective funding opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Grant writing, grant management, nonprofit development, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Comfortable working with a small nonprofit team.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit budgets and grant reporting is helpful.
  • Experience with restorative justice, reentry, incarceration, social justice, or faith-based organizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jesuit or Ignatian spirituality is highly desired but not required.

Schedule and compensation

  • 10 hours per week
  • $45 per hour
  • Remote or in office
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Occasional virtual meetings with JRJI leadership

The scope of the position is intentionally designed around the 10-hour weekly commitment. As a small organization, our goal is to have one person consistently oversee our current grants, keep deadlines and reporting organized, and steadily help us pursue new funding opportunities.

To apply

Email José Luis Plascencia at jlplascencia@jrji.org. Include a résumé and a brief statement of interest describing your grant writing, grant management, or nonprofit development experience, and a minimum of two references. Writing samples or examples of successful grant applications are welcome but not required.

We are looking for someone who can become JRJI’s reliable point person for grants: keeping our current funding organized while helping us thoughtfully grow our grant support over time.
